those keeping up with the Charles & Viktor updates can probably tell that i haven't been doing a good job of updating on time. both because of work, re-making things, other life things, etc. i could sit here all day and write a list of excuses, ultimately, i should've been working on it more.
but now i realize that perhaps updating 3 times a week isn't really feasible. the way i draw and the times i do it at, in between work and other things, is usually in small bunches, and i can't really see myself doing the same thing. this could be bad for those who enjoy the 3 page a week updating system, however..
i feel, personally, that a longform comic should be enjoyed as a single experience. that when someone goes and wants to read a longform comic (one that is divided into chapters or sections, that is) they should be able to enjoy that entire chapter/section at a time. the same way that someone goes and buys a comic book and reads the comic all at once. they're not going to pick it up, read one or two pages, and set it down for a week. this works for some webcomics, and that's great. that's fine. i'm by no means saying they should stop, or that it's dumb. i just don't agree with it.
i know, in my case, whenever i go to read a comic, i wait a month, or even a few (usually longer because i'm so busy with my own) and catch up in batches. i know quite a few people who do this, mostly because they want to really experience the story, not little bits. with strips, it works, it's easier. strips, generally, are meant to be experienced then and there, so it works a lot better.
with that said, i think it'd be best if i updated Charles & Viktor in chunks. perhaps by story, perhaps by chapter, perhaps just in batches. not entirely sure at the moment yet, i'm thinking that chapter would work best. maybe every month or every other month. i haven't really figured that out. but i feel like having some sort of plan, some sort of idea/structure to it would help, not only motivate me but keep anyone who is looking forward to reading the comic in the know.
however i do want your insight on this. those who do read, or even those who are interested in reading, do you think i should continue doing as I do now? which could very well mean dropping update days, and or just updating sproadically, or updating perhaps once a month or once every other month with a full story/chapter?
